Carburetor Butterfly Shaft Photo Page...
Order # C-1 (priced at $ 40.00 per carburetor)
The completed butterfly shaft
rebuild looks stock as the thin wall
bright nickel plated sleeves extend
to the end of the shaft on each
side.
It is restored to new factory tolerance
for proper idle engine performance.
(And no more gasoline dripping out end of worn shaft bearings...)
Against a light, and viewed from the side, the wear
areas of the shaft are clearly seen.
The carburetor housing bearing
surfaces also wear :
This rebuilding
technique removes
the worn areas
in the housing as well,
for a superior rebuild.
Here the carburetor housing is being
machine line reamed in the metal
lathe for an accurate through hole.
This view shows the shaft
prepared for bonding
on of the special repair
sleeves.
A special high
temperature Loctite
bonder is used that can
last 100,000 miles of
driving at 450 degrees,
so this should last a
lifetime of reliable service.
The repaired shaft, just prior to
installation in the carburetor
housing and fitting of the butterfly
with new brass screws (which are
secured with blue Loctite and staked
on the ends in the factory manner, for
security.
Completed repair, since the
shaft inside the bore is the
origional size, there is no
increased obstruction so
performance is maintained.
